MIDDLESEX COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
VICTIM ADVOCACY CENTER

Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan, in an effort to
coordinate and integrate the services provided to the citizens
of this county, has created the Middlesex County Prosecutor's
Office Victim Advocacy Center. The Center is the first of its
kind to address the needs of not only child victims of physical
and sexual abuse, but also adult sexual assault victims, domestic
violence victims, families of homicide victims, and families of
fatal accident victims, under one roof. The Victim Advocacy Center
fosters a partnership between the various disciplines serving the
community. This cooperative effort helps eliminate further
traumatization and embarrassment of victims. The Center has a
child-friendly waiting area and interview room. In addition,
the Advocacy Center has an adult waiting area and interview room.
Both interview rooms have video/audio- taping capabilities.
The Center houses and/or has space for:
- Representatives from the Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit of the Prosecutor's Office
- Representatives from the Domestic Violence Unit of the Prosecutor's Office
- The Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS)
- Local police departments
- The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program (SANE)/Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)
- The Dorothy B. Hersh Child Protection Center (CPC)
- The Rape Crisis Intervention Center of Middlesex County (RCIC)
- Women Aware
- UMDNJ Child Crisis Intervention Services
The safe and friendly environment of the Middlesex County
Prosecutor's Office Victim Advocacy Center addresses the
needs of diverse populations of victims, better serving
our county community.
