Sex Crimes/Child
Abuse Unit:
The function of the Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit is to promote the effective
investigation and prosecution of sexual crimes committed against adults
and children as well as criminal offenses involving physical abuse or
the endangering of child victims. The Unit coordinates and assists investigations
by municipal police departments and the Division of Youth and Family
Services by obtaining exemplars, search warrants and court orders. The
Unit also assists in arrests and provides information for bail decisions.
Many investigations are also initiated and completed from referrals
directly to this Unit by private citizens.
