Woman killed in Old Bridge crash

 

††††††††† Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief William Volkert of the Old Bridge Police Department announced today that a 50-year-old woman from Freehold was killed when her car was struck by a tractor-trailer on Route 9 in Old Bridge.

 

††††††††† Heidi Bennett, 50, of Freehold was identified as the victim of the crash, which occurred in a southbound lane of Route 9 at the Old Mill Road intersection in Old Bridge on March 31, 2014 at 12:33 p.m.

 

†††††††† An investigation by Officer John Bulin of the Old Bridge Police Department and Investigator Jeffrey Temple of the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office determined that the car driven by Ms. Bennett, a 2002 Hyundai Accent, was struck in the rear by the tractor-trailer.

 

The cause of death has not been determined. The results of an autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examinerís Office were not immediately available.

 

No charges have been filed, but the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
