Substitute school teacher imprisoned
County Acting Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey announced that a substitute teacher at
Anthony Morales (DOB 6/1/83) of Perth Amboy also was ordered to surrender his teaching certificate during a hearing in New Brunswick before Superior Court Judge Michael A. Toto.
Morales was sentenced after he pleaded guilty on October 21, 2013 to a count of endangering the welfare of the child.
Morales was charged on March 21, 2013 with having sexual relations with the girl at his home on a number of occasions between November 2011 and February 2013.

Morales was charged following an investigation by Detective Rafaelito Cruz of the Perth Amboy Police Department and Investigator James Kelly of the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office.
During the investigation it was determined that Morales developed a relationship with the girl.
He had been working at the high school as a substitute teacher. He previously worked full time for the school system, but was released due to budgetary constraints before returning as a part-time substitute. He began his career as a middle school Spanish teacher.
