Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Woodbridge Police Chief William Trenery announced today that on August 18, 2009, at approximately 9:28 p.m., the Woodbridge Police responded to a report of shots fired at 30 Ryan Street in the Fords section of Woodbridge.† When officers arrived at the scene, they observed Angel Vasquez (DOB 3/25/80, Keyport, NJ) and Lourdes Diaz (DOB 5/23/66, 30 Ryan Street, Woodbridge, NJ) on the kitchen floor of the first floor apartment with multiple gunshot wounds.† Both victims were transported by ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.† Vasquez was pronounced dead there at approximately 10:40 p.m. on August 18, 2009.† Diaz was admitted in critical condition.† Vasquez and Diaz are brother and sister.
The police do not believe that this was a random shooting.† No arrests have been made.† A joint investigation is being conducted by the Woodbridge Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.† Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call Investigator Paul Miller of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office at 732-745-4466 or Detective Thomas Dellasala of the Woodbridge Police Department at 732-634-7700.
