††††††††† Acting Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey and John Zebrowski, Chief of the Sayreville Police Department, announced today that a high school teacher has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting two 16-year old boys on separate occasions.


††††††††† Jaclyn P. Melillo, age 25, ofSayreville was arrested and charged on October 10, 2013, with two counts of sexual assault, a second-degree offense, and two counts of endangering the welfare of each child, also a second-degree offense.


††††††††† Melillo, who is employed as a special education and English teacher at Sayreville High School, was charged following an investigation by Investigator James Kelly of the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office, and Detective Lou Becker of the Sayreville Police Department.


During the investigation, it was determined that Melillo sexually assaulted both boys individually on multiple occasions during the summer of 2013.


The investigation began after Sayreville High School initiated an investigation into the matter and referred the matter to the Sayreville Police Department.


Melillo is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick.Melillo is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.Sayreville Board of Education has suspended Melillo with pay.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Melillo are merely accusations and she is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
