New Brunswick man killed

 

Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and New Brunswick Police Director Anthony A. Caputo announced that a city man died after he was shot in his home early today.

 

Alvin Williams, 29, of 47 Welton Street, was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick at 1:06 a.m., after he was shot in his home shortly before 12:35 a.m.

 

Detective Mark Pappas of the New Brunswick Police Department and Investigator Adrian Villegas of the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office are actively investigating the shooting.

 

Preliminarily, it appears that the victim was the intended target of an attempted robbery and that the incident was not a random act.

 

The results of an autopsy performed by the Middlesex County Medical Examinerís Office were not immediately available.
