Belt, pants may lead to identity

Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Edison Police Chief Thomas Bryan announced today that investigators have recovered a pair of designer pants and belt that may help identify human remains that were found in a wooded area of the township.

The ‘’Louis Vuitton’’ belt and ‘’Jet Lag’’ cargo-style pants were found among the remains, which were discovered on September 23, 2010 by a man who contacted authorities at 2:15 p.m. after walking in a wooded area near the Oakwood Plaza shopping center on Wood Avenue.

The ‘’Jet Lag’’ pants are either a dark green or dark blue with a 33- to 34-inch waist. The ‘’Louis Vuitton’’ belt is brown with a plain gold buckle. There is a gold, embossed ‘’LV’’ recurring pattern along the length of the belt.

Edison Police, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office are working to identify the remains.

Anyone with information, or may have known someone with similar clothing, is asked to call Detective Jeff Tierney of the Edison Police Department at (732) 248-7578, or Investigator Paul Miller of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-4466.
