Arson suspected in Monroe house fire

 

          Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Michael E. Lloyd of the Monroe Township Police Department announced today that arson was the cause of a fire that began early this morning at a two-story, colonial-style home on Arlene Drive in the township.

 

          Police were notified of the fire at 3:59 a.m. and dispatched EMS workers, as well as firefighters from Monroe Township Fire Stations 23-A, 23-B, 51 and 57.

 

The fire, which caused substantial damage to the home, was brought under control within 10 to 15 minutes. No one was injured.

 

An investigation by members of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Monroe Township Police Department has determined that the fire was intentionally set. Details of the how the fire was set will not be disclosed at this time.
