The Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders is pleased to announce the availability of Support Grant opportunities for the period January 1, 2013 – December 31, 2013.
Support Grant recommendations are developed each year by the Middlesex County Human Services Advisory Council (MCHSAC) members and submitted to the Board of Chosen Freeholders for final review and approval.
The priority of the 2013 Freeholders Support Grant process is to bridge the gap of unmet Human Service needs, particularly the unmet needs related to poverty and special populations within Middlesex County.
As part of the MCHSAC’s efforts to make the entire Freeholders Support Grant process more amenable to both new and previously funded programs, a hard working task force of community members and staff have recommended the introduction of improvements to the process for the 2013 funding cycle.
The first notable change is that all applicants will be required to complete a general Letter of Intent (LOI) expressing their interest in applying for Support Grant Funding. The final date to submit the LOI is May 23, 2012.
The LOI is intended ONLY to provide an overview of how many new requests may be submitted and the number of site visits to anticipate prior to the actual application process.
The 2013 Freeholders Support Grant application overview and MANDATORY Technical Assistance Session (TA) is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. June 20, 2012 at the Middlesex County Fire Academy in Sayreville. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY.
Failure to attend the session will result in the rejection of Support Grant applications. All revisions to the 2013 Support Grant and the process will be reviewed at the Technical Assistance session.
Copies of the 2013 Support Grant application will be e-mailed to programs submitting LOIs prior to the TA session. Completed applications will be due back to the County at noon on July 27, 2012. Additional details about the 2013 process, timeline, and checklists will be reviewed at the mandatory Technical Assistance Session.
“The MCHSAC continues to seek strong, sustainable, creative and promising programs to recommend to the Freeholders for funding,” said Freeholder Blanquita B. Valenti, Chair of the Community Services Committee. “The 2013 Freeholders Support Grants application process will be very competitive. County resources are extremely limited and there is no anticipation of an increase in overall support grant funds.”
Freeholder Director Christopher D. Rafano added: “There is no guarantee that programs previously funded will receive the same level of support in 2013. As Freeholders, we are entrusted to allocate funds where they will best be used to serve our residents.”
