High School, College Students Sought
For County Youth Conservation Corps
APPLICATIONS are now being accepted for the Middlesex County Youth Conservation Corps, whose mission is “to protect and preserve natural areas from misuse, polluters and the forces of nature” at the more than 7,200 acres of Open Space owned and maintained by Middlesex County.
Conservation Corps crew members earn $8.50 per hour and will work Saturdays from Sept. 17 through Nov. 12. The hours required are 9 AM - 4 PM. Work will primarily take place at County open spaces in East Brunswick, Monroe and South Brunswick. Students age 16 and over are encouraged to apply.
Activities include trail building, litter clean-up, invasive species removal and wildlife habitat improvements. Applicants should be enthusiastic, self motivated and willing to work and learn as a part of a team. Also, applicants must have the capacity to walk several miles and stand for extended periods of time, the ability to use various hand tools and a willingness to get dirty and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
