program provides deferred-payment loans to nonprofit and for-profit
developers creating additional very low income rental housing through
new construction or building conversion and rehabilitation. In most
cases, if the property complies with HOME rent and income restrictions
for an agreed-upon period ranging from 5 to 20 years, the loan and interest
are forgiven. However, depending on the nature of the project, repayment
may be required.
