The Middlesex County Fire Marshal is located at the Fire Academy and Emergency Services complex, 1001 Fire Academy Drive, Sayreville, NJ 08872.

The Office of the Fire Marshal is department head to the Fire Academy and is also the Middlesex County Fire Coordinator.

Fire Marshal Michael Gallagher oversees the daily operations of two(2) divisions. The Fire Academy has a training facility which includes: a five (5) story tower, three (3) story burn building, forcible entry/ventilation building, flammable liquids and flammable gasses training area, confined space training areas, hazardous materials training facilities, and a two (2) story SCBA maze. Our classroom facilities include a 175 - seat amphitheater, and four (4) eighty-seat classrooms that can be divided into eight (8) forty-seat classrooms. All classrooms are equipped with the latest audio/visual technologies.

The training facility is in operation all year round. Which includes weekdays from 8:30 AM till 11:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM.

The Middlesex County Fire Marshal is also the County Fire Coordinator. Along with the Fire Bureau he is responsible for the coordination of all mutual aid to fire departments both inside and outside of the county. It includes working with local, county and state agencies to develop mutual aid plans and procedures that can be effectively implemented when disasters occur. Fire Marshal Gallagher also serves as Middlesex County's representative to the state's mutual aid coordination system.
