JOB SEEKER RESOURCES
A Job Seeker can
access a wide variety of services at the One-Stop Career Center in New
Brunswick and our satellite center in Perth Amboy. Some of the services
offered include Internet access, job leads and placement through job
postings and referrals, resume writing workshops, job search workshops,
career and vocational counseling, labor market information, and aptitude
and interest testing. These services are grant funded.
Customers in need of skill upgrades or career changes to obtain employment are referred to attend a workshop to explore and learn about training programs available for a government funded training grant. After attending the workshop, individuals who wish to pursue these grants, are given an appointment to determine if they are eligible for training as this is not an entitlement program. Eligible customers are then given an appointment for basic skills testing. Adult Basic Education/English as a Second Language (ABE/ESL), GED Test or Prep classes are available if customer is in need of these programs. After testing they will meet one-on-one with a career counselor in order to determine occupational goals and appropriate training programs. Customers will be able to research options and choose the programs which will best meet their needs.
